The family consists of the second princes of Hoshido and Nohr, diplomat (and former commander) Akira, and their two children. Takumi and Leo met during the war in the events of fates and both met and grew close to, though at separate times, Akira while she was doing work in their respective countries. After months of dancing around feelings they finally got together. Down the road they married and eventually had Forrest and Kiragi. They frequently travel between their three home countries for holidays and family visits but have their own personal home.

A life-long oc of mine that originated as a self-insert for my main interests who eventually grew into her own character and personality, finding a home in fe:fates. Notable histories include legend of zelda and persona (specifically p3), both of which had a lasting impact on her character. In her p3 verse, she was the strength arcana and her personas were Aretmis and Nike.
A skilled swordsman with a strong sense of loyalty and justice, she isn't the most outgoing and known for being a serious, more silent type. She has always been more of a people-watcher, choosing to be unnoticeable amongst a crowd. Despite this, she cares deeply for those who feel weak and/or struggling and empathizes with the lower class who feel used or abandoned. She is sometimes accompanied by her familiar, Nike, a large, wolf inspired, dragon-like beast who fights by her side. Hailing from the nation of Iwatodai, an Fire Emblem-ified version of Tatsumi Port Island from p3. Akira finds herself in Nohr and Hoshido for diplomatic business after the events of Fates.
History
Akira grew up as an only child in a household with extreme expectations and a very strict and abusive mother. After learning that perfect fighters, who were believed to be blessed by the gods, would fetch a high price from nobility for service or marriage, her mother was determined to make her perfect in every way possible, no matter the cost. Due to her upbringing, Akira wasn't close to either of her parents. Her father feared her mother and she grew a hatred for her mother and nobility alike. Leaving home as a teenager was her only chance at freedom, but severed her from her few familial ties and made her become an enemy to her mother, who swore she would make Akira regret her decision and casting away the future that was being built for her.After leaving home she found a place to stay on her own, earning her keep at a small store while still attending her city's academy. She was a good, but still relatively unknown student, and one of the leaders of her academy's swordsman division. It was through her leadership that she met one of her dearest friends, Mika, who she took under her wing and helped coach herself.
Towards the end of her years at the academy she awoke to her familiar, who introduced herself as Nike. Akira had heard of these fabled familiars and never imagined that she could be chosen to have one. Shortly after their meeting, they got wrapped up in a war that plagued the country. Akira, along with a few others who also had familiars, stepped up to lead and guide their home to victory. One of the newfound friends from their team was crowned queen after the fall of the existing ruler as well as the leader of their group, who the people originally wanted to become king. Akira had become a commander during the war and acted almost like a retainer to their old leader and continued to do so when their teammate was coronated. She was offered a role as a diplomat since war time was over and accepted generously. Little did she know that accepting this role would lead to a budding romance with two princes.

Akira met both of the princes prior to the events of fates but in differing circumstances. sent to Nohr for investigating on behalf of her royalty, Akira encountered Leo on a mountainside while he was completing one of his father's "tests". The two were a bit wary of each other, not entirely willing to tell the other their identity but willing to travel together as they passed through the mountains. When Leo loses footing during a cliffside collapsing, Akira uses her familiar's ability to save him from falling. Leo doesn't know what happened or how he survived but when the two part ways later on he has a suspicion he has to do with her.They meet again later, this time due to Akira being discovered by a Nohrian patrol and taken prisoner. Garon knows vaguely who she is and strongly believes she is a threat to himself and Nohr due to his (incorrect) knowledge of her "kind" and orders her to be executed. Leo recognizes her as she is brought forward and still believes she is somehow related to his survival and chooses to break her free and allow her to escape rather than kill her.Upon fleeing Nohr she is found by the Hoshidan royal family and given shelter until Nohr's manhunt lets up. Like Garon, Mikoto had heard of Akira and her "kind" but unlike him, she believes her to be just and a hero. While accepting the shelter and safety, Akira still stays on her guard just in case. she gets along fairly well with the royal family save for Takumi, who keeps her at arm's length and constantly reminds her that he doesn't trust her. over the month or two long stay Akira had in Hoshido, Takumi began to open up after the two had bonded over training and personal similarities. By the end of her stay Takumi was a little reluctant to see her go, though he'd never admit to it.
After the events of fates, the war in Akira's own country was still going on. the princes were sent to her country both as something for them to do while their brothers took the throne and to offer a hand at an alliance between their countries. By this time Leo and Takumi had developed feelings towards each other but neither had admitted it and tried to suppress them as they felt unsure about many things. During their visit they were both glad to see Akira was well and also surprised to learn that the other had personally met her before. during the length of their stay, the two were lost in their thoughts and feelings, now involving the swordsman as well, unsure of what to do. Leo was the only one to act out on his feelings, though never following up on it out of embarrassment.When the war ended Akira got to see both of them much more frequently on her diplomatic trips. During these meetings the three realized their personal predicaments concerning their feelings but had no idea how to approach them. After months of awkward encounters (some romantic) between two of them or the full trio they finally sat down and addressed what was going on between them. Pleasantly surprised that they all felt the same, they entered a romantic relationship even if they knew it would be a bit long distance. They kept it secret, or as secret as they could, for a while for the sake of their own comfort, namely Akira's due to insecurities and issues from her childhood. They revealed their relationship when the three chose to get engaged.
Forrest & Kiragi
The trio eventually had a discussion about kids, finding out that all three secretly wanted them but knew that with Akira's physical condition having them would be unlikely. the topic wasn't approached until Leo had a potential solution, proposing the idea of surrogacy. During his research he found a magical procedure where a couple could have a biological child through a surrogate. They looked more into the process and found a more than willing surrogate mother to help with the process.Forrest is the firstborn of the two children. His "situation" was kept secret from him until he heard rumors and asked about it when older, mainly due to Akira's fear that the truth would make him stop loving her. As he grew up they saw it was anything but likely. from the start he had an unwavering connection to Akira. He grew up being a bit of a mama's boy, but loved all three of his parents very much. While young, he still showed a lot of excitement in becoming a big brother and liked to "help" his parents while he waited for his new sibling.
Kiragi is a couple years younger than Forrest and came as a bit of a surprise. While the trio planned on having another child via surrogate in the future that Takumi could "father", the second child came early. after some forgetfulness on Akira and Takumi's part the second child was on the way. It initially caused a bit of friction between Leo and Takumi, mainly one-sided on leo's part as he was upset with Takumi's "recklessness". Akira, who reached out to experienced healers and medics when she had her suspicions, asserted that she could safely have a child as long as she gets daily treatment to make sure her body cooperates along the way. While it wasn't guaranteed to work, the chances for success were high as long as she was properly taken care of.Kiragi arrived without many problems along the way. He grew up as a happy and bubbly kid with plenty of energy to share. He loves spending time with Forrest, even with their different interests, and the two have a sweet relationship. Kiragi takes on strongly after Takumi, but that doesn't affect how he gets along with his mother and father (or as he puts it, his papa/pops and his mom).
Neither of them have any problem with their family dynamic, they both see Leo and Takumi are their fathers and Akira as their mother. Neither particularly care about the details of their family, namely the details regarding their "unusual" family type, and just enjoying that they're all together and with plenty of love to go around.
Bonus Info
Leo is the shortest of the trio! He's barely 5'7" (though asserts he's 5'8" AND wears heels to make up for his height), Takumi is 5'10", and Akira is 5'11".In their first meetings, Akira was 20-21 and both Leo and Takumi were 18-19. By the time they were able to meet again, the events of fates had ended and the princes were now 20-21 and Akira 21-22 (ages are loose due to timeline of fates not being concrete and going solely on headcanons).The FatesFam is a combination of two separate ideas, one focusing solely on Akira/Leo and one on Takumi/Akira. Some elements from both of those scenarios were able to be translated with little or no changes. This also means there's also some content that only exists within those singular scenarios/AUs.
Deeprealms are completely negated! This family and all other families were started and grew without the deeprealms. The first children born after the war were Shigure, Shiro, and Ignatius (in no particular order, all roughly the same age).Only a few knew of the trio's secret relationship before they made it public. Niles found out due to Leo being terrible at hiding his feelings (or at least to Niles specifically) and Oboro stumbled upon Takumi and Akira having a sweet private moment. In a Takumi/Akira only storyline, Ryoma also found out during a moment of poor timing. Ryoma and his retainers vowed to keep the couple's secret while also trying to fix the harm he caused in the process.
